YMCA at Katy Main Street now the Mark A. Chapman YMCA at Katy Main Street

The YMCA at Katy Main Street changed its name to the Mark A. Chapman YMCA at Katy Main Street on Nov. 15. Chapman, of Cat Spring, died in 2014 and his foundation made a donation to the YMCA branch at 1350 Main St., Katy. Meanwhile, the facility was expected to finish Tropical Storm Harvey-related repairs as of mid-November after taking on 1 foot of water. Locally-owned Katy pharmacy celebrating 1 year anniversary later this month

Children’s resale boutique now open in downtown Katy

Chloe’s Closet, a resale children’s boutique, reopened Nov. 2 at 805 Avenue B, Katy. The store originally opened Aug. 25 but took on water during Tropical Storm Harvey and was forced to close for repairs. Owned by husband-and-wife team Carlton and Hannah Hereford, the store sells used children’s clothing for infants through size 18, and plans to expand its junior sizes in the future. Junk Street Market now reopened in Katy

Junk Street Market, a local vintage store and curio shop, reopened as of Oct. 10 at 5809 Hwy. 90, Katy. The store was closed for six weeks due to Tropical Storm Harvey and suffered several inches of floodwater damage. Furniture, windows, flooring, Sheetrock, the front door and the ceiling were all damaged. The Ballard House is closed until further notice after the facility, located at 21421 Cinco Ranch Road, Katy, took on between 3-4 feet of water during Tropical Storm Harvey. A donation page was created at to benefit the organization, which provides temporary housing to Houston-area visitors in town for medical treatments.
