Tomball and Magnolia residents can attend several community events this week. Here's four things to know to start your week.

1. The Tomball ISD board of trustees is expected to order a bond election during its regular meeting Tuesday, Aug. 15. If approved by the board Tuesday, the bond would be included on the Nov. 7 ballot, according to the meeting agenda. TISD also holds a workshop session at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, to discuss its district improvement and strategic plans. District residents can also attend a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. on Monday to weigh in on TISD's proposed budget. Meetings are held at the John P. Neubauer Administration Building, 310 S. 2. Tomball City Council holds its second public hearing for its proposed fiscal year 2017-18 budget and casts its first vote on the city's budget during a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14. www.tomballtx.gov

3. FM 1488 between FM 1774 and Alford Road in Magnolia is closed daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 18, according to Houston TranStar. One alternate lane is available to drivers.
