Here is what Tomball and Magnolia residents should know this week, beginning July 3.

1. According to the Tomball Police Department, several roads will be closed to traffic beginning at noon on July 4 as the city prepares for its July Fourth Celebration. Road closures include:

  • Business 249 between FM 2920 and Hicks Street, noon.

  • Quinn Road at Hicks Street, 4 p.m.

  • Quinn Road at Village Square Drive, 4 p.m.

  • Quinn Road at Rudel Road, 4 p.m.

  • Quinn Road at Klein, 4 p.m.

  • Buvinghausen Street at Keefer Road, 4 p.m.

  • Hwy. 249 at Hicks Street, 4 p.m.


2. Tomball and Magnolia host fireworks displays and family-friendly events July 4. Additionally, government offices are closed on Tuesday, July 4, in honor of the holiday.

3. Tomball City Council meets Wednesday, July 5, to continue discussing the city's budget for fiscal year 2017-18. The workshop session begins at 5 p.m. in City Hall, located at 401 Market St., Tomball, and a regular council meeting will follow at 6 p.m.

4. Magnolia City Council meets Saturday, July 8, to discuss its proposed budget for FY 2017-18. The workshop session begins at 8 a.m. at City Hall, located at 18111 Buddy Riley Blvd., Magnolia.

5. For Tomball residents affected by the city of Houston's Major Thoroughfare and Freeway Plan—which proposes widening and realigning nine Tomball-area roads, including Brown Road—comments can be submitted online until Friday, July 7.
