Ongoing Projects

1. Designs for a traffic signal and left-turn lane at Holderrieth and Hufsmith-Kohrville roads are being finalized by the Tomball Economic Development Corporation before they are sent to the county. The project will be sent out for bid by Harris County in the second quarter of 2017, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Estimated timeline: Second quarter 2017-TBA

2. The project will widen FM 1774 from two to four lanes with a two-way turn lane. The 2.8-mile widening project runs from just south of Magnolia city limits at West Lost Creek Boulevard to FM 149 in Pinehurst. Estimated timeline: July 2016-TBA

3. The Texas Department of Transportation overpass at FM 1488 and FM 149 will feature an interchange near Magnolia High School and Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad at FM 149 when finished, providing a connection between FM 1488 and FM 149 in Magnolia. Estimated timeline: March 2015-summer 2017

Project Updates

4. Grand Parkway direct connectors TxDOT is working with the Harris County Toll Road Authority to identify funds for constructing direct connectors between Hwy. 249 and the Grand Parkway in Tomball. Segments F-1, F-2 and G opened to traffic in the first quarter of 2016, providing an east-west route from Hwy. 290 in Cypress to I-45 in Spring. According to TxDOT representatives, the direct connectors could open to traffic in summer 2021. Timeline: summer 2019-summer 2021 Cost: TBA Funding sources: TxDOT and HCTRA

5. Dobbin Hufsmith Road, FM 2978 connector According to Montgomery County Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley, the county is working to construct a road connecting Dobbin Hufsmith Road and FM 2978 at the intersection of Mansions Way and FM 2978. The road will provide an east-west alternative to FM 1488 and Hardin Store Road. TxDOT has given Precinct 2 preliminary approval to move forward with constructing the roadway. Timeline: TBA Cost: $6 million-$8 million Funding sources: Montgomery County Precinct 2 (surveying and engineering), TBA (construction)

6. Hufsmith-Kohrville Road widening Planned improvements include widening Hufsmith-Kohrville Road from two to four lanes from Spring Cypress Road to FM 2920. Segment 1, which includes the stretch of road from Spring Cypress Road to Hollow Glen Lane, was completed in August. Segments 2-4 are in the study phase, and the design phase is expected to be completed for each segment in 2017-19. Segment 6 from Willow Creek Estates Lane to FM 2920 will be sent out for bid in the second quarter of 2017 once the design phase is completed.
