Tomball ISD board of trustees candidate Matt Schiel has declared victory for the board’s Position 5 race. In Harris and Montgomery counties, Schiel earned a total of 6,679 votes, compared with 4,299 for Joseph Fergeson and 6,169 for Lee McLeod.



Fergeson and McLeod have both conceded.

For the race for Tomball ISD board of trustees, Position 5, 65 percent of Harris County precincts in Tomball ISD are reporting. Lee McLeod leads slightly with 37.72 percent of the vote. Matt Schiel has received 4,973 votes, or 36.4 percent of the vote. Joseph Ferguson has received 3,535 votes, or 25.88 percent of the vote. A runoff election is possible but depends on Montgomery County results that have not yet been released.

With 10 of 20 Harris County precincts reporting in Tomball ISD, Lee McLeod continued to lead the race for Position 5 with 4,937 votes, or 37.39 percent of the vote. Schiel has received 4,848 votes, and Ferguson has received 3,418 votes.

Lee McLeod's lead lessened with six of 20 Harris County precincts in Tomball ISD reporting. McLeod has received 4,743 votes, or 37.33 percent of the vote. Schiel has received 36.77 percent of the vote, which is 4,671 votes. Ferguson has received 3,290 votes, or 25.9 percent of total votes.

With 140 of 1,012 precincts reporting in Harris County, Lee McLeod leads Matt Schiel and Joseph Ferguson. McLeod has received 4,519 votes, or 37.41 percent of total votes counted. Schiel has received 4,427 votes, and Ferguson has received 3,135 votes.

Schiel, McLeod tied for Tomball ISD board of trustees, position 5, with early voting totals

Matt Schiel and Lee McLeod are tied ahead of Joseph Ferguson with 37.02 percent of the accounted-for early and absentee votes in Harris County. Both candidates received 4,320 votes, and Ferguson received 25.96 percent, or 3,030 votes. Out of 38,165 registered voters, more than 21,700 votes were cast during early and absentee voting from Oct. 24-Nov. 4.

Ferguson, McLeod and Schiel vie for Tomball ISD board of trustees, position 5

The race for Tomball ISD board of trustees, position 5, has three candidates: Joseph Ferguson, Lee McLeod and Matt Schiel. The candidates took to Facebook on Election Day to remind voters to visit the polls.

Ferguson, a former TISD administrator, is an assistant professor at Lone Star College-Montgomery. Earlier today, Ferguson was endorsed by Michael Shawn Kelly, a candidate for Texas House District 150.



McLeod, a father of four children in TISD schools, owns a Farmer’s Insurance agency.



Schiel lives in the Magnolia area and works as a commercial appraiser with the Montgomery County Appraisal District.
