Montgomery County residents will have the opportunity to provide input on the proposed Montgomery County Thoroughfare Plan though a series of meetings hosted by the Houston-Galveston Area Council.

County Judge Craig Doyal said the purpose of the meetings is to gain insight from local residents on what their thoughts and ideas are on the comprehensive revision and update of the thoroughfare plan. The plan is a document intended to assist the county in planning roadways and identifying the rights of way that must be secured.

“We wanted to get input from local individuals as to what their needs are as growth continues,” Doyal said. “We want to get more input because it really is effective in seeing where we need to preserve the right away for expanding existing corridors or constructing new major corridors.”

Doyal said the meetings are also important to make sure subdivisions are not created in the path of future major thoroughfares and that residents and businesses are not negatively affected.

“The whole idea is to identify certain areas and revise mobility needs,” Doyal said.

The general public, business owners and elected officials are all invited to attend the four meetings.

There will be four meetings, which will run from 6-8 p.m.
