STAAR test scores for Tomball and Magnolia ISDs were released Aug. 15.[/caption]

Tomball and Magnolia ISD students scored consistently higher than the statewide average on the 2016 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness exams, according to data released Monday.

Additionally, all schools in TISD and MISD earned a Met Standard accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency.

End-of-course exams for high school students included algebra I, biology, English I, English II and U.S. history.

For algebra 1, TISD scored a 93 percent satisfactory rating, 11 percent high than the statewide average of 81 percent. MISD scored an 85 percent satisfactory rating.

In biology, TISD and MISD scored 96 and 93 percent satisfactory ratings, respectively. The statewide average was 91.

U.S. history scores were 99 percent satisfactory for TISD and 96 for MISD. The statewide average was 94 percent.

In English I, TISD scored an 84 percent satisfactory rating, and MISD scored 71. The statewide average was 63 percent.

In English II, 86 percent of students scored a satisfactory rating, compared with 75 in MISD. The statewide average was 66 percent.

Among grades four through eight, all students took the reading and math STAAR tests. Statewide, sixth graders scored the lowest with a 71 percent satisfactory rating and eighth graders scored the highest with an 82 percent satisfactory rating.

On the written portion of the exam and social studies, scores from TISD and MISD also beat the statewide averages.
