1. Maplewood Drive
Construction on Maplewood Drive from Ridgewood Drive to Alana Lane in Oak Ridge North, originally planned to be closed to traffic from July 31-Aug. 24, is delayed. The intersection is being reconstructed, and detour routes are posted. The delays are due to rain and water line replacement.

2. Kuykendahl Road widening and bridge widening
The project includes completion of the widening of Kuykendahl Road from Flintridge Drive to Augusta Pines Drive to four lanes, including building a new two-lane bridge next to the existing bridge over Spring Creek. Additional widening includes Flintridge Drive to Pine Planes Drive and Indian Hills to Timarron neighborhoods, designs of which are both complete. Bid dates for these projects should go out in November.

Transportation updates3.   I-45 HOV lane extension
The I-45 high-occupancy vehicle lane extension will add one lane in each direction along I-45 from north of FM 1960 to Loop 336 in Conroe. The project was under a delay clause, which allows for further coordination of project details, and construction will begin mid- to late September. The project will be complete the second quarter of 2016, according to The Texas Department of Transportation.

4. Woodlands Parkway turn lanes
This project adds eastbound and westbound left-turn lanes at Grogan’s Mill Road. A bid was received for $1 million for this project as well as two others, including the widening of Grogan’s Mill Road. Once the bids are evaluated a contract will be written. Once the project begins construction, it is estimated to be complete in 150 days.

Transportation updates5.  FM 2978 widening
The 4-mile widening of FM 2978 includes adding two lanes, one in each direction, from FM 1488 to Conroe-Hufsmith Road. The project is expected to be bid in October, and construction will commence in the first quarter of 2016, according to TxDOT. Once construction begins, the project will take three years.
Timeline: early 2016-early 2019
Cost: $21 million

6. Kuykendahl Road extension
A half-mile extension of Kuykendahl Road from Alden Bridge Drive to Crownridge Drive is 97 percent complete and open to drivers. The extension links all of Kuykendahl Road through The Woodlands. TxDOT is awaiting manufacture and delivery of a signal pole, which will take approximately 12 weeks.

7. The Grand Parkway
Zachry-Odebrecht continues work on the three contiguous segments—F-1, F-2 and G—of Houston’s third outer loop. The segments stretch from Hwy. 290 to Hwy. 59. Several lanes and ramps are closed for construction. Closures include the I-45 northbound exit and Spring Crossing Drive and the Hardy Toll Road, the I-45 northbound frontage road left lane at Spring Stuebner Road, and the I-45 northbound right shoulder from the Spring Stuebner Road entrance ramp to exit 72.
Timeline: July 2013-December 2015
Cost: $1.2 billion

8. Gosling Road Segment 2
The proposed 1-mile Gosling Road Segment 2 improvement project, between West Rayford Road and Creekside Forest Drive, is in the study phase. The engineering study will establish an alignment with appropriate drainage, drainage-mitigation needs and environmental assessments. The timeline is dependent on the Nov. 3 Harris County bond referendum.

9. Kuykendahl Road bridge over Spring Creek
The Kuykendahl Road bridge construction across Spring Creek is being designed by the WRUD. The joint project among the WRUD, Montgomery and Harris counties will be bid upon completion of the project development. Funding depends on a Harris County November bond referendum.
