1. Amid the Houston area’s oil and gas downturn, jobs in The Woodlands area up, according to new data released late last week. The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership released annual employment data on Friday, showing the number of jobs in the community is up to 33,128 from 32,618 in 2016. The data includes non-retail, major employers with more than 100 employees.

2. There is less than one week until Super Bowl LI is played in Houston, and numerous events have already kicked off the celebration. In The Woodlands, Market Street will host a celebration from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. this Saturday in Central Park, featuring a cornhole tournament, video games, food trucks, face painting and a dance class with Dance With Me Studios. 4. Hundreds of volunteer judges are needed this Friday for a science fair at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center in Montgomery County. The event is part of the SCI://TECH Exposition, which is a series of science, technology, engineering and math competitions for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
