Gordy Bunch, Brian Boniface, John Anthony Brown and Bruce Rieser have won four positions on The Woodlands Township board of directors, according to unofficial results released late Tuesday night by Montgomery County.

Montgomery County has not released any election results. Stay tuned for updates on the township and Lone Star College System races as they become available.

Any resident of The Woodlands who did not have the opportunity to vote early will have one last chance to cast a ballot Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. We previously shared a full list of ballot items to expect, and here is a rundown of some of the most notable contested races taking place locally:

The Woodlands Township Position 1

Bunch, the Position 1 incumbent, earned 22,209 votes compared to challenger Amy Lampman’s 12,046 votes and Bob Leilich’s 3,458 votes.

Three candidates are vying for the Position 1 seat on the township’s board of directors. Incumbent Gordy Bunch, who has held the position since 2012, is facing challengers Amy Lampman and Bob Leilich. Bunch is CEO, founder and president of The Woodlands Financial Group; Lampman is a Realtor in The Woodlands; and Leilich is a retired professional transportation consultant.

The Woodlands Township Position 2

In the Position 2 race, incumbent Mike Bass earned 17,016 votes to Boniface’s 17,940 votes.

Incumbent Mike Bass is facing challenger Brian Boniface in the race for Position 2. Bass is a retired business consultant and Boniface is a registered nurse.

The Woodlands Township Position 3

In the Position 3 race, Brown won with 21,212 votes compared to Stuart Schroeder’s 12,186 votes.

Two newcomers are vying for the Position 3 spot on the board. John Anthony Brown, a facilities supervisor at Huntsman International, will face Stuart L. Schroeder, a rail traffic controller at Union Pacific Railroad.

The Woodlands Township Position 4

In the Position 4 race, Rieser won with 22,732 votes while Chris Grice earned 11,422 votes.

A newcomer to the board will also fill the Position 4 spot. Bruce Rieser, a retired airline executive who is the CEO of a consulting firm, will face banker Chris Grice.

Lone Star College System

With all precincts reporting, David Vogt has won the race for Lone Star College board of trustees District 5, and Linda Good won the race for District 7, according to unofficial results.

Incumbent David Vogt is facing challenger Luis Granados. See more information in a Q&A that ran in our October edition.

Linda S. Good is facing Ron Trowbridge in a race for the District 7 seat. See more information in a Q&A that ran in our October edition.




State Rep. District 150

Valoree Swanson is the projected winner for state House District 150 with 94.74 percent of precincts reporting. Swanson has received 63.15 percent of the vote, and Democratic opponent Michael Shawn Kelly has received 36.85 percent of the vote. Swanson could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.

Valoree Swanson leads Michael Shawn Kelly with 63.97 percent of the votes counted during early and absentee voting. Out of 116,255 registered voters, more than 59,904 of votes were cast during early voting from Oct. 24-Nov. 4 and absentee voting.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Tomball ISD trustee Position 5

Tomball ISD board of trustees candidate Matt Schiel has declared victory for the board’s Position 5 race. In Harris and Montgomery counties, Schiel earned a total of 6,679 votes, compared with 4,299 for Joseph Fergeson and 6,169 for Lee McLeod.

For the race for Tomball ISD board of trustees, Position 5, 65 percent of Harris County precincts in Tomball ISD are reporting. Lee McLeod leads slightly with 37.72 percent of the vote. Matt Schiel has received 4,973 votes, or 36.4 percent of the vote. Joseph Ferguson has received 3,535 votes, or 25.88 percent of the vote. A runoff election is possible but depends on Montgomery County results that were not released until late Tuesday evening.

With 10 of 20 Harris County precincts reporting in Tomball ISD, Lee McLeod continued to lead the race for Position 5 with 4,937 votes, or 37.39 percent of the vote. Schiel has received 4,848 votes, and Ferguson has received 3,418 votes.

Matt Schiel and Lee McLeod are tied ahead of Joseph Ferguson with 37.02 percent of the accounted-for early and absentee votes in Harris County. Both candidates received 4,320 votes, and Ferguson received 25.96 percent, or 3,030 votes. Out of 38,165 registered voters, more than 21,700 votes were cast during early and absentee voting from Oct. 24-Nov. 4.

Montgomery County early voting totals have not yet been released.
