Inaugural bike month planned for The Woodlands

Bicyclists in The Woodlands will have a number of opportunities to get outdoors and ride as part of an inaugural bike month planned for May.

Organized by the nonprofit Bike The Woodlands Coalition, events range from a public art ride to a bike swap along with meetups for bike enthusiasts, including a happy hour and yoga session.

For the past three years, Bike The Woodlands Coalition has celebrated Bike to Work Day every May, said Tiffany Perl, coalition member and event co-chair.

“This year, we decided to expand on that celebration and incorporate a multitude of events throughout the month, open to all residents with bikes [and] accommodating all types of riders,” she said.

The largest event of the month is Bike The Woodlands Day on May 21. There will be seven hubs in the community—one main hub and six neighborhood hubs. T-shirts will be handed out at the main hub to those who RSVP’d and there will be a number of demos and sponsor tents. The neighborhood hubs feature discounts on light refreshments. It is highly recommended to RSVP for all events online in advance at www.bikethewoodlands.org.
