In addition to single and tandem kayaks, Riva Row Boat House offers stand-up paddleboards for children and adults. Row from the boat house to Northshore Park and hang a right to paddle toward the CB&I building or hang a left to get to Southshore Park near Woodlands Parkway.

This old-fashioned candy store has been located in The Woodlands since 1989, and a popular selling item is its homemade fudge, which comes in a variety of flavors.

This local food truck park opened in 2016 off FM 1488 and hosts permanent food trucks, such as Craft Burger, Cousin’s Maine Lobster, The Greek Squad and Beefy’s, in addition to daily trucks. The bar has an extensive selection of 40 beers on tap and wine, and patrons can enjoy a busy calendar of events under the covered, outdoor pavilion.

The Woodlands is home to 14 community swimming pools and, during the summer months, the parks and recreation department hosts “dive-in” movies during which participants can enjoy a family movie and refreshments while escaping the summer heat in the pool.

16. Check out the annual tree lighting ceremony in Market Street

During the Christmas season, a 70-foot Christmas tree is put on display in Market Street and lit as part of the Luxury in Lights event. The ceremony includes musical entertainment, carriage rides and holiday characters.

17. Attend a new festival

There are many new festivals and events making their debut in The Woodlands this year. One of them is the Tacos, Tequila and Margarita Festival that will be held in Town Green Park June 10. The event will feature a variety of tacos and margaritas along with live music.

Shenandoah City Council holds its workshop meeting at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month and its regular council meeting at 7 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month at Shenandoah City Hall. Oak Ridge North City Council meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of the month at Oak Ridge North City Hall.
