Local Realtors answer questions about trends and offer tips to homebuyers and sellers considering buying or selling a home in or around The Woodlands.

How do you think the real estate market will change in 2016?

I feel it will be more competitive with the inventory. We will be transitioning into a buyer’s market, and the buyers will be demanding more of a value.

Are you expecting home prices to go down or up, and if so, why?

This will all depend on the price point and which area. There will always be those areas in high demand in The Woodlands. New construction could feel a slight pinch, if any.

What are some trends you noticed in 2015 when people were trying to sell or buy a house in The Woodlands?

The biggest trend I saw in 2015 was with leasing. There were a lot of clients looking to move to The Woodlands. However, they were cautious and wanting to wait and see which village they would make a move to.

When would you say is the best time of year for a buyer to put a home on the market?

I would say March typically is a good time to put your home on the market. However, I have also seen December be a good time as well.

When is the best time of the year to purchase a home on the market?

I would say there is really isn’t a specific time of year, but the buyer should be in the best position to negotiate and be ready to buy with financial approval in place.
