The Woodlands Development Company will break ground on a 61,000-square-foot retail development, Lake Woodlands Crossing, in late January on one of Town Center’s last remaining tracts of developable retail land.

Located at the northeast corner of Lake Woodlands Drive and Grogan’s Mill Road, the project will take 10-11 months to construct, said Rip Reynolds, vice president of leasing and commercial land for The Howard Hughes Corporation.

“This parcel of land has been in The Woodlands since the beginning, and it’s one of the last remaining new retail development opportunity in Town Center,” Reynolds said. “We think [Lake Woodlands Crossing] will complete the retail corridor from Grogan’s Mill going east to I-45.”

Confirmed tenants for the project include a 25,000-square-foot Total Wine & More and a 10,000-square-foot Ulta Beauty store, which will relocate to Lake Woodlands Crossing from the Pinecroft Center.

Reynolds also said the company is in ongoing negotiations with a high-profile restaurant, which he hopes to announce in first quarter 2018. He also said the project was 65 percent pre-leased, as of mid-December, and the other tenants will be retail and service providers in-line with already-announced tenants.

Tenants in Lake Woodlands Crossing may begin construction in July and could open to the public as early as September, Reynolds said.

“We hope to continue bringing new and exciting dining and retail options to The Woodlands and to complete that retail corridor for Town Center—not only for our community but for the other residents of Montgomery County,” Reynolds said.
