The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park at 6464 Creekside Forest Drive will open this summer, kicking off the season with an open house event at 7 p.m. Friday.

Creekside Park residents rallied to convince The Woodlands Township to purchase the village’s former YMCA when the YMCA of Greater Houston announced it would shut the facility down in May 2016.

In September, the township officially voted in favor of buying the property for $4.5 million.

With The Aquatic Center at Rob Fleming Park and The Lodge at Rob Fleming Park, the addition of the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park creates a trifecta of recreational township-owned amenities in Creekside Park.

The recreation center will be open for limited hours this summer during programs and special events while renovations to the building are completed, township officials said.

Future services offered at the facility will include fitness, camps, enrichment, humanities, sports, special events, outdoor education and equipment rentals, township officials said.
