Tony Verdi opened Zan Boutique in December 2014 to offer stylish, high-end clothing that he said would be hard to find in The Woodlands area.

The high-end boutique features more regular priced clothing at the front of the store and more high-end designer brands, such as Kate Spade, Diane Von Furstenburg and Hugo Boss, in the back of the store, Verdi said.

“We have some high-end dresses and clothes here that you can’t find anywhere else,” Verdi said. “Not even places like Nordstrom would have it—nowhere in The Woodlands. We’ll have a Jean Paul Gaultier or Paula Ka item no one else has in the area. I opened up this store because I wanted to give people a place to be more stylish.”

Verdi said business at the boutique has been good since opening in 2014 off Sawdust Road. The shop also has an online store, from which a majority of its sales come.

Zan Boutique offers more than 20 high-end brands, such as Calvin Klein dresses, BCBG shoes and accessories like Chloe handbags and Tory Burch jewelry.

Customers can also sign up on the boutique’s website to subscribe to Zan Boutique’s newsletter, which lets customers know about new items at the store.

“In the future there might be more boutiques,” Verdi said. “This is a good location rather than Market Street, where the rent is high. We’re the only boutique like this in The Woodlands, and we have better stuff here than you can find in other places.”

Spotlight  - Termeer Custom Homes

John Termeer started Termeer Custom Homes in 1992 after traveling the world as an engineer and becoming interested in architecture while visiting Tuscany, Italy.

“After seeing the architecture in Tuscany, I came back here and started building,” Termeer said. “Soon people started asking me to build for them and now [Termeer Custom Homes] is a family business that has built several hundred homes since then.”

Termeer’s company is one of the leading builders in Carlton Woods in The Woodlands with 43 homes to the company’s credit. The company has also constructed homes in other communities, such as Crown Ranch in Montgomery and Walden in Conroe. The homes range from 2,000-6,000 square feet and are considered luxury homes.

“The thing that is very important and what makes us different from everyone else is that we do it all,” Termeer said. “We do the engineering, the soil testing, the specifications and selections and the interior designing. Most architects only do the drawing and constructing.”

Termeer said his company has also won several awards in the past—it won the Greater Houston Builders Association’s Prism award in October for best home in the $500,000-
$1 million range.

“We’re very unique in this industry,” Termeer said. “We have a single point of responsibility and this sets us aside.”
