The NCAA selected the city of Shenandoah as the future championship site for NCAA Division III football and golf, officials announced Tuesday.
The Division III football championship will be held at Woodforest Bank Stadium in December 2018 and December 2019, and the women’s golf championship will be held in 2022.
Shenandoah has previously hosted the NCAA Division III swimming and diving championships at the Conroe ISD natatorium in 2013, 2015 and 2017. The
Shenandoah City Council placed a bid in August to host future Division III swimming and diving, soccer, football and women's golf championship events, the latter two of which were awarded. This decision could also be influential regarding the future of Shenandoah’s proposed
Special Events Center.
“Expanding the sports championships shows the commitment of the city to bring in major sporting events into the area,” Smith said. “We are looking forward to another four-year relationship with Division III championships.”
