Mike Bass, former member of The Woodlands Township board of directors, was hired Monday as The Woodlands Arts Council’s first executive director.

In his newly created position, Bass will use his experience in multi-national consulting and business management to bring TWAC to the next level in Montgomery County, officials with the organization said.

“We are thrilled to announce Mike’s appointment as our first Executive Director,” TWAC President Amy Lecocq said. “Not only is this new position a huge step forward for our organization, we also found the perfect person to fill it in Mike Bass.”

Bass has been involved with TWAC for the past five years as a volunteer, and most recently as treasurer of the board of directors. As executive director, he will assemble a collaborative team to continue to fulfill TWAC’s mission to promote, encourage and enhance the visual and performing arts in The Woodlands area.

“He has decades of expertise in leading and structuring businesses and organizations for efficiency and success,” Lecocq said. “He will lead a team of professionals who will further strengthen our nationally ranked Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, our education and outreach programs, and our role in the enrichment of the public and cultural arts in The Woodlands and beyond.”
