1. Lake Olympia Parkway Segment 1
Fort Bend County is extending Lake Olympia Parkway from Hurricane Lane in Missouri City to meet a future extension of Chimney Rock Road, Fort Bend County Assistant County Engineer Stacy Slawinski said. This first segment will be a four-lane divided concrete road. Future segments are expected to extend Lake Olympia to FM 521 in Fresno to meet with Broadway Street.
Timeline: June 2019-June 2020
Cost: $6 million

2. Chimney Rock Road extension
Fort Bend County is also working on a two-lane road extension of Chimney Rock Road from Rosa Parks Elementary School in Fresno to FM 2234 in Houston. In addition to meeting up with Lake Olympia Parkway, the new Chimney Rock Road will usher in a new 519-acre residential development in Fresno for Skymark Development, Skymark President Clinton Wong said.

3. Knight Road extension
This project will extend Knight Road from the Fort Bend Toll Road to McKeever Road. Kelly R. Kaluza and Associates Inc. was selected for design, which is ongoing. Construction is estimated to bid in the spring of 2019.

Cost: $6 million

ONGOING PROJECTS


4. Hwy. 6 widening and repairs
Several road projects have started along various sections of Hwy. 6, including widening the road from six to eight lanes from Brooks Street to Lexington Boulevard. Crews are also making road repairs to northbound and southbound lanes between Hwy. 59 and Dulles Avenue, which are expected to go into early March, weather permitting.
Timeline: January 2019-June 2020
Cost: $12.5 million

5. Dairy Ashford widening
The construction has been ongoing since July 2018. Newly constructed northbound and southbound lanes south of Hwy. 90 to Parklane Boulevard were completed and opened in February. Construction of directional median turn lanes at the intersection of Parklane and Dairy Ashford Road is underway. Additional work is being done north of Hwy. 90 with the installation of the underground storm sewer system. The preliminary engineering report recommended additional through and turn lanes at Dairy Ashford at Hwy. 90. This will require an increase of one through lane in each direction north and south from Parklane to beyond Julie Rivers Drive.

6. West Airport Boulevard repairs
Sugar Land completed this project at the end of February, according to city officials. Single-lane closures took place on West Airport’s eastbound side between Industrial Boulevard and Dairy Ashford in Sugar Land for street roadway repairs that were part of the city’s ongoing street rehabilitation program.
