A total of 15,888 Fort Bend residents cast ballots either in-person or via mail by the time early voting polls closed on April 30, according to the county elections office.

Election day is May 4 for positions on Sugar Land City Council and the Fort Bend ISD board of trustees.

The early election votes have already outpaced last year's totals. In the May 5, 2018 election, a total of 15,294 voters cast ballots on election day and in early voting, according to the county's official results.

Local elections include races for Sugar Land City Council districts 1, 2 and 4. District 3 candidate Stewart Jackson is running unopposed and is expected to be reappointed for another term.
