Suzanne Whatley has beat Donna Batten Molho by five votes in the Position 1 race. Whatley has received 710 votes—or 50.18%—to Molho's 705 votes.

The county does not expect to receive any additional votes—such as overseas ballots—for this race.

With all 53 Fort Bend County vote centers reporting results, Sugar Land City Council District 4 incumbent Carol McCutcheon has won re-election with 81% of the vote.

In the Position 1 race, Suzanne Whatley leads Donna Batten Molho by six votes. Whatley has received 707 votes—or 50.21%—to Molho's 701 votes.

Results are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified.

As election day results begin to come in, Donna Batten Molho and Suzanne Whatley are tied in the race for Sugar Land City Council's District 1 seat.

Molho and Whatley have each received 554 votes.

District 4 incumbent Carol McCutcheon continues to lead her challenger, Sakki Joseph, with 83.05% of the vote.


At 8:32 p.m. Fort Bend County posted the first election day results. While the county's website shows 0 out of 53 precincts reporting, 286 election day votes have been counted in the Molho-Whatley race.

Results are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk.

There were competitive races for two of the four Sugar Land City Council district seats. As of 7 p.m. Fort Bend County is reporting early and absentee vote totals.

In the race for District 1, Donna Batten Molho leads Suzanne Whatley with 435 votes—or 52.92%. Whatley has received 387 votes. Incumbent District 1 Council Member Steve Porter is unable to seek re-election due to term limits.


Incumbent District 4 Council Member Carol McCutcheon is leading her challenger, Sakki Joseph. McCutcheon has garnered 1,339 votes—or 82.76%. Joseph trails with 279 votes.

District 2 and District 3 incumbents Naushad Kermally and Stewart Jacobson, respectively, ran unopposed.
