Updated 9:01 a.m. Dec. 7: Due to severe weather forecasts and a flash flood watch predicted for this region on Nov. 7-8, Missouri City officials canceled the 2018 Snowfest Festival, Shuffle and Parade. Activities will not be rescheduled. A total of 6,971 Missouri City residents cast ballots, either in-person or by mail, as the polls closed on Dec. 4 on the final day of early voting in the runoff election, according to the Fort Bend County elections office. Election Day is Dec. 8. Missouri City is holding a special runoff election, and early voting began Nov. 26 for the positions of mayor and city council member at large Position 2. Registered voters who reside in Missouri City subdivisions located in Fort Bend and Harris counties are eligible to vote in the Dec. 8 runoff election. They must show proper identification, according to the county’s elections website. Residents can vote at one of the following polling places on Election Day:
Those elected on Dec. 8 may be sworn into office at the Monday, Dec. 17 regular city council meeting. The Mayor Pro Tem will also be elected on that date.
