Judges from Fort Bend County’s 328th, 387th, and 505th District Courts finalized over 20 adoptions Friday as part of National Adoption Day.

Local nonprofit organization Child Advocates of Fort Bend and its partner agencies sponsored the event, and 23 families officially adopted 25 children, including 7 who were from the foster care system, said Metoyer Martin, director of the CAFB’s Court Appointed Special Advocate program.

“[The event] is to celebrate the consummation of adoptions for children who are looking for their permanent homes,” said Metoyer Martin, CASA program director and event chair. “We’re excited that we can find forever homes for children to be loved, to be cared for and nurtured, and to know what it means when someone says, ‘There’s no place like home.’”

The CASA program recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for children in the foster care system and act in their best interest, according to CAFB’s official website.

Families and children celebrated the event, enjoying face-painting, a bounce house, a petting zoo, and food and drinks.
