City, county and school leaders are meeting this week to discuss issues affecting the public. See what's on the agenda Monday and Tuesday:

Monday

Missouri City City Council meeting
City Council will review a presentation on the city's economic and demographic forecasts, lead by Austin-based consulting firm TXP. Council will also discuss the FY 2018 budget calendar. The meeting starts at 6 p.m.

Sugar Land City Council ethics task force meeting
City Council will hold a special meeting Monday at 5:30 to discuss the city’s Citizen’s Ethics Task Force’ first set of recommendations, which were submitted Feb. 17. The task force is an appointed group of residents charged with finding ways to update the city’s ethics code for government and elected officials.

According to city documents, the task force previously determined that the ethics rules focused largely on conflicts of interest and the disclosure of gifts. The task force then identified six priority areas for amending the rules: creating an independent ethics review board, transparency improvements, education and training, enforcement, campaigns, and vendor relations.

Fort Bend ISD board meeting
FBISD’s board of trustees will hold a meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at the Administration building, 16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land. Trustees will take action on a proposed plan to make FBISD a District of Innovation for greater regulatory flexibility.

According to the posted agenda, the board will also receive more information on a possible tax ratification election that could see the district’s maintenance and operations tax rate raised to $1.06 and the interest and sinking tax rate lowered to $0.26. The tax “swap and drop,” as district officials have called it, is being recommended to generate more property tax revenue for the district in anticipation of less state public education funding for the 2017-18 fiscal year.

Tuesday

Fort Bend County Commissioners Court
The Commissioners Court will hold its regular meeting at 1 p.m. on the second floor of the county courthouse, 401 Jackson St., Richmond. Agenda items to be discussed include the county's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the year ending Sept. 30, and approval of construction and engineering payments for 2007 and 2013 bond projects.

Sugar Land City Council planning session
At 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sugar Land City Council will hold a planning session to discuss the current city budget and the outlook for FY 2017-18, the city Capital Improvement Program, updates on projects funded in the current budget year, as well as council priorities for FY 2017-18.

The meeting will take place in the Palm conference room of the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square hotel, 16090 City Walk, Sugar Land, according to city documents.

Missouri City public symposium
Missouri City is offering the public a chance to give direct input on a redesign for the city’s website and a draft of a new Comprehensive Plan. An update on projections for FY 2017-18’s budget will also be shared, according to an announcement from the city.

The symposium will begin 7 p.m. at the Community Center, 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City.
