1. Aldine Westfield Road


The widening project between East Louetta and Riley Fuzzel roads will widen Aldine Westfield Road from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane thoroughfare. Harris County awarded the construction contract to Allgood Construction Company Co. in September. Utility relocations are in progress by the respective utility companies, and roadway construction will begin when utility relocation is completed. The construction contract allocates 240 calendar days, or eight months, for completion.

2. Gosling Road segment 1


Texas Sterling Construction was named the construction company in December for the widening project between Spring Stuebner and Mossy Oaks roads. Utility relocations are in progress, and roadway construction will begin upon completion of utility relocations. The construction contract allocates 360 calendar days, or 12 months, for completion.

3. Gosling Road segments 2 and 3


Proposed improvements between Mossy Oaks and West Rayford roads—segment 2—and West Rayford Road and Creekside Forest Drive—segment 3—are in the study phase. The study will determine the road alignment for widening. Funding for the project development, which includes design, permitting, right-of-way acquisition and utility adjustments, will come from the road bond approved by voters in November.

4.  Kuykendahl Road Segment D1


The project will widen Kuykendahl Road between Indian Hill Road and Timarron Drive from two lanes to four lanes. The contractor—4-C Construction Services—was given the notice to proceed with construction in February.

5. Kuykendahl Road bridge


The bridge over Spring Creek is being designed by The Woodlands Road Utility District. The project development is a joint partnership among WRUD and Montgomery and Harris counties. It will be bid once project development is complete.

6. TC Jester Boulevard signals


The traffic improvements, including traffic signals, between FM 1960 and
FM 2920, are a joint-participation project between Texas Department of Transportation and Harris County. The construction contract was awarded to Third Coast Services, which began construction in March 2014. As of September, four traffic-signal systems were activated at Chapel Bend, Aspen Bend and Kennonview drives and Glenmere Lane.

7. Grand Parkway Segment G


TxDOT completed Segment G of the Grand Parkway in late March. The new segment connects I-45 to Hwy. 59. Segments F-1 and F-2 of the toll road were opened to drivers in early February and connect Hwy. 290 in Cypress to I-45 south of The Woodlands. Segment G was delayed because of weather conditions in 2015. Also known as the Greater Houston area’s third loop, the Grand Parkway is a toll road that spans nearly 200 miles and traverses several counties.

Construction continues on a project to extend the I-45 high-occupancy- vehicle lane from FM 1960 in north Harris County to South Loop 336 in Conroe. Construction began on the project last fall and is expected to be complete later this spring.

9. Improvements at Hufsmith-Kohrville and Holderrieth roads


Designs for traffic-signal and intersection improvements are under review by the Tomball Economic Development Corp. before they will be to the county. Harris County expects to send the project out for bid in the first quarter of 2016.
