Here are the top stories Spring and Klein residents need to know about before heading into the week of Oct. 3, 2016.
1. National Night Out is Tuesday night.
The Spring ISD Police Department hosts its annual National Night Out for Spring ISD families and community members from 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Spring ISD Police Department, 210 North Forest Blvd., Spring.
The event will include entertainment, games and prizes, parent information regarding student success and student safety, along with voter registration and Election Day information.
2. Spring ISD work session scheduled for Thursday.
The Spring ISD board of trustees will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at 16717 Ella Blvd.,Houston. An agenda for the meeting will be posted on the
Spring ISD website when it is available.
3. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month
The month of October marks the official start of Breast Cancer Awareness month. There are a number of events planned in the Spring and Klein area, including Paint the Night Pink at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, 18220 Hwy. 249, from 6-8 p.m., Thusday, Oct. 13. The event includes a question and answer session with a physician, a tour of the Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at Willowbrook, free massages and mini-makeovers. Guests can register at

4. The voter registration deadline is approaching.
Harris County residents must register to
vote by Oct. 11 to cast their votes in the Nov. 8 election. Early voting will be available from Oct. 24 through Nov. 4. Sample ballots are posted
online.
