The 2017 election season shifts into gear as candidates can now file for local school board elections, and several community events are planned this week in Spring and Klein.

1. Attend the grand opening of Quick Quack Car Wash on Tuesday

2. Candidate filing for the Nov. 7 general election begins July 22
This includes candidates running for seats on two local school boards. Two three-year seats are available on the Spring and Klein ISD boards of trustees.

3. Tickets for the Spring High School 2017 football season are available at a discounted rate
Through Aug. 25, season tickets are $30 each and include admission to five home games from September to November. Cash and check payments are accepted with a valid driver’s license during normal business hours at the district’s athletics office, located at 16717 Ella Blvd., Houston.

4. Hear stories from an engineer with connections to Apollo 13
