Hickman leads opponent Ed Gonzalez in political donations so far this election season, according to the latest round of campaign finance reports due to election officials Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Every opposed candidate in the Nov. 8 election must file a contributions and expenditures report 30 days before the election. This latest round of reports, the first mandated disclosure since this summer, covers all financials from July 1 to Sept. 29, according to the Texas Ethics Commission.
Here is how much donation money each candidate has earned and spent for Harris County Sheriff during that timeframe, including both monetary and non-monetary contributions:
Ron Hickman: $271,703.12 contributions, $68,722.53 expenditures
Ed Gonzalez: $243,207.50 contributions, $55,622.88 expenditures
Here are the top financial supporters for each campaign:
Ron Hickman
- Anthony Massoud contributed a total of $15,000, across several donations.
- Suzanne and Keith Moran contributed $12,375.
- Farouk Shami contributed $10,000, Tommy and Loyce Bussell contributed $10,000 and Thomas and Julie Morin contributed $10,000.
Ed Gonzalez
- Nijad Fares, Zhou Gang Chen, Superbag Operating Ltd. and Ed Gonzales each contributed $5,000.
- Efren Gonzalez Jr., International Union of Operating Engineers Local 450 and Rosalind Malveaux each contributed $2,500
- Peter Brown, Feng Chen, Donna Cole and Maria Sanchez each contributed $2,000.
The next campaign finance report deadline is Oct. 31, or eight days before the election.
