OakBend Medical Center, the last remaining nonprofit community hospital serving the Greater Houston area, will open a fourth hospital in Wharton by April 2018, according to a press release.

OakBend Medical Center–Wharton will provide similar services as other existing locations that include the system's signature no-wait emergency rooms, day surgeries and air ambulance and imaging, including X-ray, CT and Ultrasound services. Other services offered at the hospital will be established after assessing the needs and support of the community, according to the release. The hospital will be located at 10141 Hwy. 59, Wharton.
