Top priorities: maintaining the city’s high quality of life

What is your solution to relieving traffic congestion in Pearland?

I support the implementation of the Capital Improvement Plan as recommended by city staff and will encourage best practices in traffic management to mitigate congestion. There is no single solution to relieving traffic congestion.

How would you address drainage issues within the city?

The city and Drainage [District No.] 4 must continue their productive working relationship. As new developments are constructed, [developers] should be required to provide detention that handles that development’s additional stormwater runoff.

Traffic will move better when traffic lights are long enough for the majority of cars waiting to travel can travel. Sitting at a long red light when there is no traffic on the cross street is frustrating.

How would you address drainage issues within the city?

Traffic and drainage often go together. As roads are installed or widened, we must ensure [that] drainage is a big part [of the projects]. Roads should never act like a dam. We must continue building [retention] ponds and any other way to hold water until heavy rains stop.

What is your solution to relieving traffic congestion in Pearland?

There are several projects in the works that will help to relieve congestion problems in Pearland. However, we need to identify and prioritize additional projects in order to relieve other major traffic problems.

How would you address drainage issues within the city?

I believe that there are several things that can be done to improve drainage throughout the city. The first step would be to update and modernize the guidelines for how we deal with drainage. Ideally, I would like the entire city to have a master drainage plan like what Shadow Creek Ranch has.

What is your solution to relieving traffic congestion in Pearland?

While the city is working on projects to address this problem, I believe that we also need to offer additional transit options. I’d love to see an arterial system for pedestrians and bicyclists in this city.

How would you address drainage issues within the city?

Maintaining quality infrastructure and protecting property values should be a priority. We need to listen to residents and create a collaborative relationship with citizens, council and staff. We need to ensure that our public works department is adequately staffed [and] implement long-term solutions.
