The suburbs are teeming with activity this weekend as families prepare for another Texas summer. Here are five events you won't want to miss this weekend.

May 19: City of Pearland Concerts in the Park series
As part of a series of Friday evening concerts sponsored by the city of Pearland, the five-piece band Breakfast at Tiffany's will perform a variety of music, including R&B, pop, soul and rock music, at Southdown Park. Leashed pets are welcome as well as alcohol in plastic containers only. May 19: Mitch and Artha Wright Concerts in the Park series

May 20: SEVA Clinic medical charity inauguration
Medical nonprofit SEVA Clinic celebrates its inauguration ceremony at the Pearland Neighborhood Center. All medical services are provided free to patients. The clinic will formally open to patients on June 1 and every Thursday thereafter. 10:30 a.m. 2335 N. Texas Ave., Pearland. www.pnctexas.com

May 20: Pearland Armed Forces Day BBQ, Dance and Raffle
The Pearland Chamber of Commerce and other local charities are teaming up to raise funds to give the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7109 in Pearland a new roof. May 20: A Night of Culture & Cuisine
The Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association presents A Night of Culture & Cuisine at Centennial Park in the Evelyn B. Newman Amphitheater. The event will feature a performance by the Friendswood High School wind ensemble, which will perform a selection of popular movie soundtracks. The Friendswood Contemporary Ballet will perform Provenience. While lawn seating is free, VIP tickets are for available. VIP ticket holders will have reserved seating at the show, pre-show hor d'oeuvre selection from Brasserie 1895, beer and wine, shuttle to and from the event and after-show dessert at Brasserie 1895. 6-10 p.m. Free (lawn seating), $75 (VIP ticket).
