Incumbent Democrat Ron Reynolds will retain his seat as representative for Texas House District 27, marking the third time he has been elected to the post.

According to unofficial results, Reynolds garnered 67 percent of the vote while his opponent, Republican David Hamilton, received 33 percent of the vote. With all 51 precincts reporting in Fort Bend County, a total of 36,308 votes were cast with Reynolds receiving 24,319 votes and Hamilton receiving 11,989.

Texas House representatives serve two-year terms with no term limits.

According to unofficial early voting results, Democratic Incumbent Ron Reynolds is leading the race for Texas Representative District 27 with 67 percent to Republican David Hamilton's 33 percent with no precincts reporting. After early returns, Reynolds has 14,738 votes to Hamilton's 7,425 votes, with 22,163 votes counted.

Reynolds, a native of Fort Bend County, has served as representative for District 27 since he was first elected in 2011 and is seeking re-election to his third term. He received his bachelor's degree in public affairs from Texas Southern University and a law degree from Texas Tech University. Reynolds is a partner with the law firm Brown, Brown & Reynolds. He was also a former associate municipal judge for the city of Houston and adjunct professor at TSU.

Hamilton works in oil and gas business development and in his career, he has worked in various sales and marketing roles in the health care and finance sectors. Hamilton, an Arkansas native, received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of the Ozarks, where he also played basketball.
