The Fort Bend ISD board of trustees, in a special two-part meeting May 19, swore in three recently elected candidates before reconvening with the new board to select a new president and officers.

After canvassing the results from the May 10 election, the three elected candidates for positions 1, 4 and 5—Jason Burdine, Kristin Tassin and KP George, respectively—took the oath of office.

The board then held its officer elections. Position 2 board member and former assistant secretary Grayle James was selected as board president for the 2014–15 school year, replacing Jim Rice, who was elected for his second term in 2013. Position 7 board member Dave Rosenthal replaced outgoing Susan Hohnbaum as the board's vice president. Position 6 board member Jenny Bailey was selected as the board's new secretary, replacing former trustee Bruce Albright.

The board decided not to select an assistant secretary for the 2014-15 school year.

"Collectively we felt [the position] was not needed this year as we had more experienced board members to fill out the three main positions," Rice said.
