H-E-B is staying ahead of the population growth curve with a recent land purchase near the Imperial Oaks and Legends Estates subdivision.

According to J. Beard Real Estate Company, H-E-B has purchased a 21.3-acre tract on Riley Fuzzel Road at the southwest corner of Rayford Road with plans to build a future grocery store.

Cyndy Garza, director of public affairs for H-E-B, said the grocer has no "immediate plans" to develop the property and that the purchase was made in order to acquire the land for a future store.

J. Beard Real Estate stated in a release that the store will have frontage on the planned Grand Parkway, which is scheduled to open in 2015. The 21 acres is part of a larger 67-acre tract that is available for commercial development.

H-E-B, one of the nation's largest independent grocery stores, currently has five stores in Montgomery County.
