Local watch parties scheduled for today

The East Montgomery County Republican Women hosts an election night watch party at Texan Drive Stadium at 21360 Valley Ranch Parkway, Porter. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The Harris County Republican Party hosts an election night watch party featuring special guest Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick at HCRP Headquarters, located at 7232 Wynnwood Lane, Houston. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and light refreshments are available. www.harriscountygop.com 

The Harris County Democratic Party is not hosting an official watch party but is encouraging residents to attend county parties including the Houston for Hillary Election Results watch party, hosted by the Hillary Clinton Houston Campaign. The party will take place at The Republic Smokehouse Saloon, located at 1910 Bagby St., Houston. The event will begin at 5 p.m., and attendees will be able to watch as results from around the country are announced live. Free ($5 for parking) www.harriscountydemocrats.com

New Caney ISD board of trustees race underway

More than 156,800 Montgomery County residents showed their support for their favorite candidates during early voting.

Beth Prykryl and incumbent and Elizabeth Rhoden Harrell are vying for position 7 on the New Caney ISD board of trustees. Both discussed rapid student population growth within New Caney ISD in a Q&A from our October issue. Read the responses from Harrell and Prykryl here.
