Texas Renaissance Festival

Over 500,000 guests visit Todd Mission for the nine-weekend season beginning in Oct. The festival offers different themed weekends, including Oktoberfest, Heroes and Villains, Pirates’ Day and All Hallows Eve. The festival also includes food, live entertainment and shops. Katy Rice Festival

Located in downtown historic Katy, the annual Katy Rice Harvest Festival is three days of live entertainment, music, crafts, food and a carnival. The event features an Octoberfest-stye celebration Friday and a parade Saturday. 6-11 p.m. (Fri.), Parade at 9 a.m. •and festival from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. (Sat.), Noon-6 p.m. (Sun.). $5 (per person, per day), free (children under 12 years).

Katy Wine Fest

Oct. 18
The Cinco Ranch Rotary’s festival will highlight over 40 different wines from around the world, and guests will be able to sample rare finds and unique vintages not found in local grocery stores. The festival will also feature several local restaurants serving light bites, a selection of beers, live music as well as a silent and big board auction. This spooky after-hours event features a guided walking lantern tour of the park and the telling of unique Texas ghost stories. Texian Market Days

The Fort Bend History Association is hosting the 36th annual Texian Market Days festival, held at the George Ranch Historical Park, a 20,000 -acre working ranch. The whole family can enjoy over 150 years of Texas history with battle re-enactments, historic home tours, games, cowboys, vintage vehicles, food and craft vendors, live entertainment and hands-on activities. Howl-O-Ween Fest

The stage at Howl-O-Ween Fest will feature shows throughout the day including Clifford the Big Red Dog, a K9 demonstration, a dog fashion show as well as Houston disc dogs and dock diving. There will be a pumpkin decorating and craft areas, a children’s zone with bounce houses, trick or treating, face painting and a balloon artist.
