The Katy ISD board of trustees on Monday night announced it will meet for a special meeting 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Education Support Complex to discuss Superintendent Lance Hindt’s contract and pursue possible legal action for a defamation suit, according to a press release. “The only thing I can say right now is the meeting is happening and we are going to be discussing those two items on there, which is seeking outside counsel and the amendments,” KISD spokesperson Maria DiPetta said. The agenda states the district will consult with the district’s board attorney and discuss an amendment to Hindt’s contract in closed session starting at 7:30 p.m. The board will reconvene for open session at 8:30 p.m. to consider approval of engaging special outside counsel to pursue legal action on behalf of the superintendent and KISD staff, the agenda stated. The announcement comes nearly a month after Hindt apologized to Katy ISD staff for negative attention surrounding the district after he was accused of multiple bullying allegations from his early teens more than 30 years ago. The meeting will be held at 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy. http://www.katyisd.org/
