Katy ISD Future Farmers of America brought in $557,359 in the district’s annual livestock show held in February.

Almost 500 youth exhibited in the show, which is one prong of the program that provides leadership skills, personal growth and career success for students, according to the Texas FFA Association.

“FFA provides students an opportunity to gain skills such as time management, leadership and responsibility,” said Katy ISD FFA adviser Jamie Walsh. “Students have to dedicate time to feed and care for their animals both in the morning and evening daily from the time they receive the animal until show. The hard work they put in for these months is truly a rewarding experience.
