Community meetings are at the forefront for the Katy area this week. The city of Katy appointed Frank O. Carroll to fill a vacancy. Katy ISD will meet to discuss attendance boundaries and budget details Monday night, while the city of Fulshear will hold its regular council meeting on Tuesday. Here are four items Katy area residents should know:

1. Katy appoints Frank O. Carroll to Ward A council seat

At a special session Sept. 14 at 3 p.m., Katy City Council approved the appointment of Frank O. Carroll to fill the Ward A seat recently vacated by former council member J. Gary Jones. Jones had resigned to take care of personal matters.

Carroll was sworn in immediately after the meeting by Assistant City Secretary Becky McGrew.

“The first thing on my agenda and on everyone’s agenda right now is the budget meeting in about 10 days,” Carroll said. “The meeting on Sept. 24 is, I think, a crucial discussion of the budget.”
