The Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for "A Night of Celebration," its annual event to install new board members and recognize business leaders in the community. This year's event takes place Jan. 30 at the Omni Houston Hotel Westside.
Beryl Ramsey, CEO of Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, will be installed as chairwoman of the board, replacing 2014 chairman Stuart Snow. The chamber also uses the event as a platform to announce winners for its Business of the Year awards as well as recognize the Ambassador of the Year and the recipient of the Chairman's Award.
This week is the last chance for businesses looking to be considered to submit an application, said Sara Cantrell, the chamber's marketing and events coordinator. A panel of four judges with the chamber will then determine winners in four categories: small, medium, large and nonprofit. Last year's winners included Evielutions Design, Consolidated Mills, Northwest Dodge and Reach Unlimited.
The chamber has hosted annual installation celebrations for several years, but this year's celebration will feature a theme for the first time—"Mardi Gras." After the awards ceremony, attendees can partake in casino games, listen to a live jazz band and a take photos with Mardi Gras props at a photo booth.
"In the past, it was more of a business event, but we wanted to try something that was more fun and more of a celebration," Cantrell said. "We're still getting some of the details together, but we're looking forward to celebrating with everyone."
