Construction is underway at Bridgeland's Hidden Creek, with developer Howard Hughes Corporation announcing the site plan and builders at a June 26 event.

At roughly 580 acres, Hidden Creek will be the largest neighborhood in Bridgeland to date. As the final piece of Lakeland Village, the neighborhood will feature 1,000 new home sites from builders such as Perry Homes, Ryland Homes, Taylor Morrison and Village Builders. The overall master plan for developing Bridgeland's 11,000 acres involves four villages, which will all be linked by a Town Center.

Several Perry Homes are already available in Chacon Creek, the first section within Hidden Creek to see construction. Peter Houghton, vice president of master-planned communities with Howard Hughes, said more homes are on the way. Homes are expected to range in price from $250,000 to $1 million.

"All in all, we're talking 10 different builders and 13 different price points," Houghton said, referring to the eight builders at Hidden Creek and two more finishing off Lakeland Heights. "I believe Village [Builders] is going to be up next week with their first starts. You're going to see starts in these sections ramping up over the course of this summer."

Bridgeland developers said that every house within the community is no farther than a quarter-mile from a park or green space, with plans for Hidden Creek to continue this trend, Houghton said.

The 140-acre Josey Lake travels three miles along the perimeter of the site and will feature a fishing pier, bird-watching tower and boardwalk. The 20-acre Lakeland Village Park will be located off Josey Lake by the future Noelke Creek home sites. It will feature a dog park, basketball court, canoe launch and a skate park for residents.

Demand for homes in Bridgeland has increased sharply as Howard Hughes went through the process of getting permits and plans approved, Houghton said.

"We've been quiet for a few years, but we're very excited to see Bridgeland coming back on track to being the No. 1 master-planned community in Houston," he said.

Rounding out the list of builders in Bridgeland are David Weekly Homes and J. Kyle Homes, which are working on 144 new home sites in Lakeland Heights, Houghton said. Perry Homes also has plans to build 31-foot townhomes in Lakeland Heights off Josey Ranch Drive.

"We're introducing a new series of designs that range from craftsman-style townhomes in Lakeland Heights to estate series homes overlooking the new waterway in Hidden Creek," said Billy Shirley, division president of Perry Homes.
