Updated Nov. 13, 9:30 a.m. Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation announced that the ramp connecting Hwy. 290 eastbound to Loop 610 eastbound has reopened ahead of schedule. The ramp was originally set to reopen the morning of Thursday, Nov. 16, but crews were able to complete construction ahead of schedule. With the ramp's reopening, the Hwy. 290 exit lane configuration to Loop 610 has changed. • The left lane is a dedicated exit to Loop 610 southbound (West Loop) • The center lane as an optional exit to either Loop 610 southbound (West Loop) or Loop 610 eastbound (North Loop) • The right lane is a dedicated exit to Loop 610 eastbound (North Loop)

Two entrance ramps have also reopened.

  • The Hwy. 290 eastbound entrance ramp from W. 34th Street is now open and provides drivers a dedicated lane onto Hwy. 290 eastbound mainlanes.
  • The eastbound entrance ramp from Dacoma Street to 610 North Loop eastbound is open.
Original story posted Nov. 7: Hwy. 290 travelers are advised to prepare for delays as construction crews plan to temporarily shut down the eastbound ramp to Loop 610 eastbound. The ramp will be completely closed starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8. The ramp will be closed through 5 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, according to a release from the Texas Department of Transportation. The closure will allow crews to finish work on rebuilding the connector ramp, the completion of which is considered a major milestone for the project. "When the connector ramp reopens on Nov. 16, the [Hwy.] 290 eastbound entrance ramp from W. 34th [Street] will also reopen in a temporary configuration as a one-lane entrance ramp with a dedicated lane onto [Hwy.] 290," TxDOT officials said in the release. "In addition, the eastbound entrance ramp from Dacoma [Street] to the [Loop 610] eastbound connector will reopen. The opening of these two entrance ramps restores additional access to the [Loop 610] interchange." During the closure, drivers will be detoured to Loop 610 southbound where they can exit at Woodway/Memorial and U-turn to Loop 610 northbound. Drivers can also detour using the frontage road by exiting Hwy. 290 at Mangum/Dacoma, traveling on the frontage road to W. 18th Street, turning left toward the Loop 610 eastbound frontage road and entering Loop 610 mainlanes past T.C. Jester.
Once the ramp is reopened, the Hwy. 290 exit lane configuration to Loop 610 will also change, according to the release. • The left lane is a dedicated exit to Loop 610 southbound (West Loop) • The center lane as an optional exit to either Loop 610 southbound (West Loop) or Loop 610 eastbound (North Loop) • The right lane is a dedicated exit to Loop 610 eastbound (North Loop) For more information on the Hwy. 290 project, visit www.my290.com or follow @my290houston on Twitter.
