Offering a selection of 8,000 wines, 3,000 spirits and 2,500 beers, Total Wine and More opened at its first Houston location Oct. 27. in the Commons at Willowbrook, 7640 FM 1960, Houston.

The 23,000-square-foot location—located next to Academy Sports + Outdoors—also features wine and beer tasting bars, gift ideas, a climate-controlled wine room with rare selections, a walk-in humidor for fine cigars and a technology-equipped space for consumer education classes and private events.

Classes will seek to educate the public on wines of various types and from various regions, District Manager Robert McCormick said.

"We'll have a Wine 101 class that will teach you how to swirl, how to sniff and about the different bouquets," he said. "We'll have classes that start you from the beginning all the way up to advanced."

Wines are available from all over the world and at a wide variety of price points, from $3-5 up into the thousands. The store is divided into old world wines—including Italian, Spanish and French—and new world wines from North and South America, including a special area for Texas wines.

"If it's available in the market, we try to put it in our store," McCormick said.

A portion of sales from Oct. 27-29 will be donated to the Alley Theatre in Houston, officials said.
