With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Philip Cash has won the Montgomery County Precinct 1 constable runoff race with 54.6 percent of the vote.

Opponent Ike Fluellen garnered 45.4 percent of the vote, with 2,295 votes, compared to 2,756 votes in favor of Cash, according to unofficial results.

"We feel relieved. We are a little disappointed with the low turnout, but we are happy with the outcome," Cash said. "We have crossed a big hurdle. Now we have one more step in November. I am proud to represent the Republican party."

Cash will appear on the ballot against Democratic opponent T. Mack during the general election on Nov. 8. Early voting for the general election begins Oct. 24.

Philip Cash has taken a lead in the Montgomery County Precinct 1 constable Republican primary runoff over opponent Ike Fluellen following early voting, according to unofficial results.

Cash garnered 54.5 percent of the vote compared to 45.5 percent in favor of Fluellen.

Cash serves as a lieutenant with the Montgomery County sheriff’s office and has served on the agency's Special Investigations Unit—which specializes in narcotics and vice crimes investigation. He started his career working as a Montgomery County deputy sheriff in 1988.

Fluellen is a licensed peace officer and jailer with more than 38 years of experience. During his career, he has worked in patrol, narcotics and criminal investigations divisions. Fluellen also has 18 years of administrative experience, including chief of police for Aldine ISD and captain with the Montgomery County sheriff’s office.

The winner of the race will appear on the ballot against Democratic opponent T. Mack during the general election on Nov. 8. Early voting for the general election begins Oct. 24.
