Conroe City Council approved a number of agenda items during its meeting on March 9.

  1. The city approved $110,000 in total grants from the Conroe Convention and Visitors Bureau for a variety of high-profile local events, such as Cajun Catfish Festival, Conroe Americana Music Festival, Texas Ten Race and MODAERO Aviation Festival and Air Show.

  2. The city approved a resolution with Stoecker Corporation to purchase right-of-way for construction of M.P. Clark Road north of League Line Road. The $6.5 million project was contracted to Triple B Services and construction is expected to start in May. The city would arrange a land swap with Stoecker Corporation to acquire the property.

  3. City officials approved a three-year contract with CarteGraph for the Public Works Asset Management Program.

  4. City Council approved $50,000 in additional funding for fees from R.W. Harden and Associates. The company was hired by the city to conduct an independent study on Montgomery County groundwater resources following disagreements with the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District.

  5. The city approved a development incentive contract for Icotex LLC, which is building a new facility at the Conroe Park North industrial park. The company specializes in metal components for forklifts and other applications.

  6. Councilmembers approved a resolution that supports state legislation that would create the Trinity Lakes MUD.

  7. The city approved a resolution supporting state legislation that would call for the direct election of the LSGCD board of directors.

  8. Council denied an increase in gas rates proposed by CenterPoint Energy Entex and CenterPoint Energy Texas Gas.
