The Clear Creek ISD board of trustees on Jan. 21 approved design details for Clear View High School, moving the district one step closer to replacing the outdated charter school with a more modern one.

Designers covered details of the proposed school, including that the new campus will have consolidated hallways to increase safety and several giant glass windows to allow in as much natural light as possible.

Trustee Chris Reed asked if big windows are appropriate when school safety and hurricanes are district concerns.

The designers assured trustees the windows will have bulletproof film and be able to withstand winds of at least 120 mph.

The school will have three entrances. Reed asked how the school would control access.

The designers said during peak hours all entrances would be monitored by staff. During school hours, the entrances would be locked to control access.

The board approved schematic designs for the school in November. The project is on schedule and on budget, which is $45 million, the designers said.

The new school will have a capacity of 350 students and be built on land adjacent to the current school, which opened in 1938, by August 2020.
