April 25 marks the start of the early voting period for the Katy ISD board of trustees election.

Early voting runs from April 25-30 from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and also May 2-3 from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at five locations across the district.

There are two open seats up for election on May 7—the Position 1 seat held by incumbent Joe Adams and the Position 2 seat held by incumbent Rebecca Fox. George Scott is opposing Adams for the Position 1 seat.

Fox is running unopposed. She has served on the board since 2004.

Adams, owner of Budget Blinds and Bluebonnet Painting and Renovation in Katy, has been on the board since 1989.

Scott is a former publisher of the Katy Times and is currently a self-employed public policy consultant.

The last day to apply for a ballot by mail for the board of trustees election is April 26. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. at either the Harris, Fort Bend or Waller county elections office where a voter resides. KISD has applications available at the Education Support Complex, 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy.

School board members represent the whole district.

April 25 also marks the last day to register to vote in the Fort Bend County

Constable Precinct 3 Republican runoff election


In the Republican runoff election set for May 24, incumbent Rob Cook and opponent Wayne Thompson will face each other for the right to appear on the ballot in the November general election.

Cook has held office as the Precinct 3 constable since 1988. Thompson currently serves as the interim police chief for the city of Shoreacres.

The last day to apply for a ballot by mail for that election is May 13. Early voting will be May 16-20.
