Hutto City Manager Ed Broussard announced his resignation from the post in November.[/caption]Broussard will begin his new role Feb. 9 and will take over for former Tyler City Manager Mark McDaniel, who accepted a position with the city of Dallas in September. Broussard was one of five finalists narrowed down from a pool of 50 applicants from 17 states.
"The entire City Council has been extremely involved in the decision," Tyler Mayor Martin Heines said. "We feel confident that we have hired the candidate to meet the unique demands of managing the city of Tyler."
Broussard has been Missouri City's city manager since January 2012 after serving as the city of Hutto's city manager from 2005 through 2011. Broussard was also the city manager of Navasota from 2001 through 2005, assistant city manager of Woodway from 2000 through 2001 and assistant to the city manager in College Station from 1997 through 2000.
"I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve the citizens in partnership with City Council and an exemplary team of public servants," Broussard said. "My family and I will always cherish our Missouri City memories."
The city of Missouri City will consider appointing an interim city manager during its January meetings while it conducts a nationwide search to fill the position.
