Nestled in the Gleannloch area, Robyn’s Nest Boutique has been a haven for Spring shoppers looking for clothing, home decor and eclectic gifts since 2013.

Since opening the first shop, Robyn’s Nest has taken off with a second location in Katy and an ever-expanding online presence. However owner Robyn Garrett said the shop’s origins came from a more modest concept.

“When I first started, it was just going to be a gift store [offering] home decor and baby gifts,” Garrett said. “There didn’t seem to be a lot of them out here in the area. At the last minute I added clothes, and I am glad I did because it has been my biggest seller.”

Despite the popularity of the shop’s clothing and jewelry selection, Garrett said she has not moved away from the store’s vision of carrying distinctive gifts not easily found anywhere else.

“I try to keep unique gifts and items that other people don’t have,” Garrett said. “Even though women’s clothes are our most popular item right now, we also keep baby items and baby gifts because we have a lot of people coming in for [baby] showers.”

Garrett said it has been a challenge to identify her customers’ demographics since women of all ages frequent the shop. The boutique carries gifts for customers ages 16 to 55.

In addition to apparel and gifts, the boutique offers handmade monogrammed jewelry crafted by a local friend of Garrett’s. The shop also offers free personalization on stones.

Garrett, 47, has worked in retail since she was 19 years old. The entrepreneur credits her husband, Wes, for helping her decide to open the store in July 2013 after a brief stint working for an oil and gas company. Her husband, who owns a construction company, also helped construct Robyn’s Nest.

Garrett’s two daughters also work at the shop. One daughter, Macey Moore, handles the shop’s online sales  and serves as acting manager.

“I am a shopaholic,” Moore said. “I enjoy the clothes, going to market and [spending] time with my mom.”

The store’s online storefront has been a new and welcome addition to the boutique, Garrett and Moore said. Moore said the online shop offers clothes, jewelry, shoes and some accessories. However she expects the store’s online offerings to expand and include some baby items as the online business grows.

“Social media has been really great for our business,” Moore said.
