Update 11 a.m. June 26

This and League City's Firework Extravaganza are canceled due to rising COVID-19 cases in the state.

Original story

League City will still host its annual Citizen Appreciation Day on July 4, but the COVID-19 pandemic is changing it a bit.

Residents will be able to drive through the parking lot of Hometown Heroes Park, 1001 E. League City Parkway, League City, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 4. Vehicles will be able to stop at different "pit stops" to collect a prize, refreshing treat or patriotic-themed giveaway, according to a news release.

Residents can decorate their vehicles to enter the event's Most Patriotic Car contest. Winners will be announced on the city's Facebook page July 6, according to the release.

In the past, League City has hosted Citizen Appreciation Day for city employees and leaders to show how much they care for the residents they serve with things such as free food.

League City will also host its annual Fireworks Extravaganza on July 3. Read more about that event here.
